15 Perfect Cinematic Moments - Cinematic Moments Blogathon

Andrew suggested the idea of a Blogathon where bloggers write about their personal favourite cinematic moments and I think it is a great idea. I feel this can tell you much about the writer themselves, what matters to them, what appeals to them and what is most important to them. It can also tell you what type of films they like. As you'll probably be able to tell I like horror films and many of my favourite perfect cinematic moments come from horror films. Some choices are violent and shocking, however in amongst the blood, incest and gut wrenching endings are a number of films that really strike a chord on an emotional level. There will be spoilers ahead.

Thursday Movie Picks - Young Adult Movie adaptations

Young adult movie franchises have become the biggest thing in the film industry over the course of the last decade and a half. It all started with Harry Potter way back in 2001 and what followed was adaptions of Twilight, The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner and many others. Collectively these films have raked in billions of dollars for the film industry, you may turn your nose up at them but its looks like they are here to stay for the near future at least.

Clown (2014/15)

It is Jack McCoy's (Christian Distefano) birthday and the clown that has been booked for the party cancelled at the last minute. This is a disaster because Jack is one those kids who doesn't seem to be scared of clowns, however disaster is averted as his dad, Kent (Andy Powers), finds a clown suit in a house he is trying to sell and arrives at the party dressed as a clown. Next morning, however, he can't remove the suit and he soon learns the deadly and demonic history behind the clown costume.

Thursday Movie Picks - Live action fairy tales

The works of Hans Christian Anderson remain hugely influential even two centuries later, the films listed here may not have a direct link but remain influenced, in some way or another, by Anderson's works or by fairy tales. To be honest, I'm not sure if I've done this right. I also completely forgot you can pick bad movies. Anywho - check out the blog wanderingthroughtheshelves

Chappie

In the near future Johannesburg is the first city ever to have a fully robotised police force patrolling the streets. It turns out to be an effective move as crime rates have shot down in South Africa's largest city. Meanwhile, an employee of the company that provides the robotic police force, Deon Wilson (Dev Petal), builds a robot that has the ability to mimic human intelligence and have its own emotions and opinions (for example he could be an art or film critic). Deon  is however hijacked by a group of thugs (played by the members of the rap group Die Antwoord) and Chappie (Sharlto Copley) falls into their possession. The thugs wish to use Chappie to commit a number of crimes to help them pay back the money they owe to a drug lord. The thugs and Chappie's maker battle for his soul and protect him from those intent on destroying him.
